Ainsworth Wind Farm, Nebraska

RES built the 36 turbine wind energy facility at Ainsworth, Nebraska, under a turnkey construction contract with project owner Nebraska Public Power District. Commercial operation began in September 2005 and final completion is expected at the end of the year. RES will have a two-year contract for O&M on the project.

The Ainsworth wind project comprises 36 Vestas V82 turbines, each with a generating capacity of 1.65MW and a 70 metre tower. RES America Construction Inc’s contract included ancillary works such as the substation, cabling, and access tracks, and the construction work was completed within 9 months.

The 59.4MW project will generate enough electricity to meet the average needs of approximately 19,000 homes.
