Altahullion Wind Farm Phase III, Dungiven, Co. L’Derry
Altahullion Phase III Planning Ref B/2007/0006/F
Validated January 2007
RES UK & Ireland is proposing to consolidate the existing wind farm at Altahullion, and the extension currently under construction, with an additional 15 turbines of a maximum height (base to blade tip) of 112 m. These additional turbines will generate enough renewable and pollution free electricity to meet the domestic electricity needs of around 21,000 homes every year. They will also reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, by an estimated 60,000 tonnes annually.
Public Information Programme
As part of the public information programme for Altahullion Phase III we sent over 250 information packs to political representatives, community groups, churches, businesses and local householders. We left information with the 75 houses closest to the site, (Drum, Altnover, Larch, Munalohug, Baranailt, Loughermore, Nessagh, Muldonagh, Farkland and Pollysbrae Roads) and managed to speak to 36 householders in person. We spoke to local councillors and held public exhibitions in Gortnaghey and Burnfoot, so that members of the public could find out more about the proposal.
