Haut Cabardès Wind
Farm
The Haut-Cabardès
wind farm is situated near the villages of Pradelles-Cabardès and
Cabrespine approximately 20km north of Carcassonne in the Aude département
of France.
The project was developed by EOLE-RES and comprises two tranches each
of 8 turbines rated at 1.3MW with a combined installed capacity of 20.8MW.
Energy is exported via twin underground cable connections each approximately
27km in length to Electricité de France's grid.
Construction commenced, with the installation
of the grid connection, in spring 2004.
The first tranche became operational in March 2006, and the second tranche in June 2006.
The estimated energy to be produced by the
combined Haut-Cabardès wind farm is equivalent to an annual saving
of approximately 39,000 tonnes of CO2.
