Wryde Croft Wind Farm In September 2007 Renewable Energy Systems (RES) re-submitted plans for a wind farm at Wryde Croft. Although our original application for seven turbines gained a resolution to consent in 2004, the Council asked us to re-submit a new application, because it was felt that the slight repositioning needed for two of the turbines (to take into account microwave links and a gas pipeline running through the site) amounted to a material change to the scheme. We have also reduced the number of turbines down to six. Each of the six turbines is 60m to the hub, with an overall height (including blades) of 100m. We are currently awaiting Peterborough City Council's decision on the project. If permitted, construction would begin within the next 2 years. The site lies on
flat agricultural land between Crowland (9km north west), and Parson
Drove (4km to the east) north of the A47. The proposed development will also
have associated electricity transformers, access tracks and site entrance,
substation compound and control building. Construction of the wind farm
should take approximately 6 months. The wind farm would produce enough
energy to provide electricity to over 6,700 homes.
A revised Environmental Statement was submitted in June 2004 to Peterborough City Council.
